The Dental Implant Procedure

It's taken nearly 40 years of research but now the implants and  techniques are practical and affordable.
STEP ONE - A simple consultation with Ali is the first step to replacing your missing tooth/teeth. This allows us to find out exactly what your requirements are in terms of implants and to establish that a suitable density of bone is present. We also have to make sure that there is adequate, healthy gum to help maintain a good seal around the implant/crown connection. If not, then measures to 'augment' gum or bone may be necessary prior to or during implant treatment.
The initial consultation will usually include a simple x-ray which is included within the cost of the £75 consultation charge. This also gives us the opportunity to answer all your questions and to arrange a date for your implant appointment. Sometimes a panoramic x-ray is necessary (£53) and for complex cases we use the latest in 3-D imaging provided at a centre on site (£99 per jaw).
When we plan implants, we always start by trying to visualise the final outcome. We plan based on principles of aesthetics and required function. This helps us decide the required size and precise position of the implant along with the type of crown and connection to be used. As mentioned above, we can also decide if any additional surgery might be needed to achieve optimal results.
STEP TWO - Placing the implant.
Our aim is for entirely pain-free treatment for every aspect of your implant procedure. Simple implant cases can be performed under local anaesthetic. A small gum flap is raised and a precise hole is made in the jaw that conforms exactly to the size and length of the implant. The implant is precisely placed and the gum is sealed.
The surgery and implant placement are performed under sterile conditions. The implant is typically left buried under the gum for at least six weeks so that healing can occur and the process of osseointegration can occur. Osseointegration is where new jaw bone grows into and attaches to the specially designed implant. Within a short period of time, the implant becomes a permanent part of the jaw.
